When We Are Closed
If you need emergency medical care outside normal surgery hours call the surgery as normal. You will be given details of who to contact. Generally this will be the NHS 111 number.
The nearest A&E department is at Barnsley Hospital in Gawber Road.
Your Local Pharmacist
Pharmacists (also called chemists) are experts in medicines and how they work. They dispense medicines and are trained to give advice on healthy living and minor ailments. There is no need to make an appointment with a pharmacist. There are more than 40 pharmacies in Barnsley and many are open late and at weekends.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
